MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say they arrested a motorcyclist for having illegal drugs after he was involved in a crash in Muskegon.
The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Sherman Boulevard and Harris Street, according to the Muskegon Police Department.
A 52-year-old Muskegon man laid down his motorcycle to avoid a crash when a car pulled out in front of him. His left leg was injured when it became pinned between the motorcycle and the car.
When first responders tried to take off the motorcyclist’s boot to help him, he refused. Eventually, he allowed them to take it off. Inside, police say, they found drugs.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment. He is expected to be charged with possession of an illegal narcotic and operating a motorcycle without a motorcycle endorsement.
The 58-year-old Grand Haven resident who was driving the car involved in the motorcycle was cited for a right of way violation and released, police say.
