Pedestrian seriously hurt in hit-and-run

TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are searching for a driver who hit and injured a pedestrian Tuesday night before driving off.

Christian Reed, 23, of Marne was listed in serious condition Wednesday morning at a hospital in Grand Rapids, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Reed was walking down Ironwood Drive near 2nd Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a light-colored Honda Insight, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Witnesses said the vehicle continued westbound on Ironwood Drive without stopping.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a light grey or white 2002 to 2013 Honda Insight. The car will have some damage to the passenger side, including a missing mirror.

Deputies said they used the model number on the mirror, which was left behind at the crash site, to narrow down the model and year of the vehicle involved.

Authorities were checking auto parts stores to see if anyone had come in looking to replace a similar mirror.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department at 616.738.4000 or Silent Observer at 877.887.4536.
