Police source: Man accidentally shoots self

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Sources say police believe someone accidentally shot himself in southwest Grand Rapids Thursday evening.

It happened around 7:40 p.m. in the 700 block of Vries Avenue SW, in the area of Clyde Park Avenue and Chicago Drive.

One person was hospitalized, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department. Police say the victim was uncooperative and his story kept changing.

A police source told 24 Hour News 8 the person who was hurt was believed to have shot himself accidentally and was trying to make up a story to cover that up.
