BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — An Emmett Township Department of Public Safety officer has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a teenager.
Troy Estree is accused of sexually assaulted a teen girl twice in separate incidents in his Emmett Township home, according to Michigan State Police. Estree was arrested Wednesday and lodged in the Branch County Jail, police said.
On Friday, Estree was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree. Estree was given a $150,000 cash surety bond. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and to have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.
The Calhoun County prosecutor asked the state Attorney General to assign a special prosecutor to the case to avoid the appearance of impropriety. The Eaton County prosecutor was assigned to handle the case Wednesday afternoon.
Estree has been placed on paid administrative leave, Emmett Township DPS Director Mike Olson told 24 Hour News 8, and Estree was not on the job Wednesday at the time of his arrest.
