Man arrested after standoff in Kzoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was taken into custody following an hour and a half standoff in Kalamazoo.

Officers were called to the 900 block of Douglas Avenue around 9:50 p.m. Thursday regarding a man with a gun.

Witnesses told officers that the suspect had a silver revolver in the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and had been threatening to shoot someone.

After an hour and a half of negotiations, the suspect came out of his apartment and was taken into custody without incident.

Kalamazoo Public Safety officers located a loaded .38 caliber revolver while searching the apartment.

The 44-year-old Kalamazoo resident was arrested for resisting and obstructing, felony firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm, and an unrelated bench warrant.

He is currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail pending arraignment.
