BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman is expected to face an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing another woman in the face in Battle Creek.

It happened around 11 p.m. Friday in the area of Bennett and Yuba streets, according to the Battle Creek Police Department. The victim’s condition was unknown Sunday.

Officers found the suspect not far from the scene of the stabbing, they said. Police say she had the victim’s blood on her face and purse. The knife used in the assault was also found nearby.

The suspect initially lied about her identity to officers, BCPD said, but they soon discovered her real name and learned she had seven outstanding warrants.

She is expected to be charged with assault with intent to murder, BCPD said.
