KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Kalamazoo say two stabbing incidents that happened on the same street only hours apart are not believed to be connected.
Around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety was notified that a man had arrived at Borgess Medical Center with a stab would to the upper torso. When officers arrived at the hospital, the victim — a 53-year-old Kalamazoo man — was in surgery.
A witness told officers she brought the victim to the hospital after he was stabbed at a house in the 1000 block of N. Park Street, south of W. Paterson Street. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing are not yet known.
The victim was in stable condition after surgery. Detectives planned to interview him and the witness.
Police say the stabbing involving the 53-year-old is not believed to be connected to a Saturday night stabbing only a couple of blocks away on N. Park. In that case, a 24-year-old sustained cuts and a 25-year-old sustained critical injuries.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call KDPS at 269.337.8994 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
