Motorcyclist hurt in crash near Pewamo

LYONS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Aero Med was called to a motorcycle crash in northeast Ionia County Monday night.

The wreck happened around 10 p.m. on Hubbardston Road between Nickle Plate Road and Golf View Drive, north of Pewamo.

Paul Wood, 62, of Lyons was traveling south when he drove off the road and hit a traffic sign before coming to a stop on the side of the road.

The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash. Wood was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Wood received life-threatening injuries and was flown to the hospital by Aero Med.

Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, according to Michigan State Police.
