ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) On August 25, hundreds of people will be hitting the golf course to take part in the Positively Warren Golf Classic. The event honors the memory of WOOD TV sports anchor and community legend Warren Reynolds, and raises funds for two of his favorite causes: Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame.
Professional golfer Laura Kueny has a very personal connection to one of those causes. She was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of four. She says it was a blessing in disguise, as it introduced her to the game of golf. Kueny played golf at Michigan State University and went pro after that. Now she is using golf to give back to kids who are fighting leukemia. The Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame is working with her for her own charity golf outing to benefit Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
