GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) If you think of life as a series of adventures, especially when they’re set in exciting places, you’ll love the latest book in the GR Reads program. It’s called “Hack: How I Stopped Worrying About What to Do with My Life and Started Driving a Yellow Cab.”

The true-life account was written by Melissa Plaut, who started this new career after getting laid off from her job at an advertising agency in New York City. In the next phase of her life, she spent a lot of time behind the wheel of a yellow cab in the Big Apple, and started to blog about her experiences and the people she met along the way.

On Thursday, August 21, you can meet the cabbie and author and ride along as she recounts memories of the streets of Manhattan. Melissa Plaut will speak at the Main Grand Rapids Library starting at 7 p.m. The event is free.

To see the entire GR Reads summer reading list, and all of the activities they have related to the books, go to the Grand Rapids Public Library’s website.
