SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A man faces an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing another man multiple times in South Haven.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at Maple Glen Apartments on Baseline Road, police say.

The South Haven Police Department says officers called to the scene found a 31-year-old South Haven man with multiple stab wounds in the hallway of one of the apartment buildings. He was taken to the hospital.

The victim and several witnesses said the suspect was Stephen Angelo Simpson.

Simpson, 45, had fled the scene, but later turned himself in to police.

He was arraigned Wednesday on charges of attempted murder and first-degree home invasion as a fourth-time habitual offender.
