MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The westbound lanes of I-94 have been cleared after two separate crashes shut down portions of the highway in Calhoun County Friday morning.

A section of the highway not far from the I-69 interchange near Marshall reopened shortly after 12:30 p.m. It had been closed since 8:30 a.m. due to a crash involving multiple semi-trucks. The Michigan Department of Transportation said one semi-truck was rear-ended by another semi-truck.

Emergency crews had to extricate the driver of the semi-truck that hit the other truck. That driver’s condition is unknown.

A semi-truck also rolled over at mile marker 104 near the FireKeepers Casino on E. Michigan Avenue in Emmett Township, not far from Battle Creek. That section of the highway was shut down for about an hour, but reopened around 10 a.m.
