Body found in Plaster Creek

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are investigating after two people out for a walk discovered a body near Plaster Creek Family Park.

The male body was found around 12 p.m. Saturday in the area of Buchanan Avenue near the railroad track in Wyoming and may have been in the water for an undetermined period of time, according to Grand Rapids police.

The victim is described as a 64-year-old white male, according to the Wyoming police. Authorities are not releasing the name of the victim until his family has been notified.

The Kent County Medical Examiner is not calling the death suspicious, although the investigation is in the preliminary stages.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted on the deceased person.

The cause of death was unknown Monday, police said. Police also said they were awaiting a the results of a toxicology test.
