Gun seized during arrest of wanted suspect

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) – A suspect who was wanted on warrants fled from police into a house after dropping a loaded handgun on the front porch.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of N Church Street in Kalamazoo, according to a news release.

Police tried to approach the suspect, but the suspect fled into a house after dropping a loaded .40 caliber handgun on the front porch.

The suspect, a 23-year-old Kalamazoo resident, came out of the house a short time later and was taken into custody, the release said.

The 23-year-old was arrest for felon in possession of a firearm, resisting and obstructing and two warrants.
