HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Ottawa County authorities are looking for the man who robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint north of Holland Monday.

It happened around 2:50 p.m. at Whispering Pine Apartments in the area of 136th Avenue and Quincy Street in Holland Township.

The 27-year-old cab driver told the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office that he was dispatched to the 13000 block of Westwood Lane to pick someone up. He said the suspect met him and got in the cab.

The suspect then showed a silver handgun and demanded money, according to the sheriff’s department said.

The cab driver gave the robber cash, and the robber took off on foot, headed north towards the apartments on nearby Cascade Drive.

The driver was not hurt.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s. He was about 5-foot-7 and 140 pounds. He had a trimmed goatee with more hair around the chin area. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black do-rag and blue sunglasses with American flags embossed on the lenses.
