HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Ottawa County authorities say a man shot at his ex-girlfriend’s car in the parking lot of a hotel near Holland over the weekend.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Value Place Inn off Van Ommen Drive, in the area of James Street and US-31, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. A man allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend, then opened fire on her vehicle as she drove away. None of the bullets hit anything.

The man was later located at a residence on 136th Avenue near Quincy Street. Deputies say he tried to flee, running out the back door to hide in a wooded area. Authorities used a K-9 to track and find him.

The gun used in the shooting was also recovered.

The man is expected to face assault and weapons charges and is accused of a probation violation.

Three other people found at the home on 136th Avenue were arrested for unrelated probation violations, the sheriff’s office said.
