New police dog for Spectrum Health

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – The Spectrum Health Police Authority has added a new team member to its force: Fix, a 15-month-old German Shepherd.

The dog, who came to Grand Rapids from the Netherlands, was introduced Monday morning after spending five weeks with an officer to train for his new job, according to a release from Spectrum Health.

Fix will walk around inside Spectrum hospital buildings and while he will help provide security, he’s also very friendly and will be allowed to greet patients in their rooms.

Fix is a fully functioning police dog. He’ll be joined by two more police dogs on the force by the end of 2014.
