CASTLETON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 19-year-old was killed and two more people were hurt in a two-car crash north of Nashville Wednesday.

It happened on M-66 at the E. State Road intersection in Castleton Township, according to the Barry County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was headed south on M-66 when an eastbound 2002 Buick Century failed to yield the right of way. The vehicles collided.

The driver of and only person in the sedan, 19-year-old Tyler Steeby from Wexford County in northwest Michigan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 82-year-old man and 79-year-old woman — both of the Woodland area — who were in the pickup truck were hospitalized with serious injuries. They remained there Thursday.

None of the victims’ names were released Wednesday afternoon.

The people in the Silverado were wearing their seat belts, but the 19-year-old was not, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities continue to investigate.
