KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A party store in Kalamazoo that authorities busted for selling stolen alcohol and cigarettes in 2013 was raided Wednesday.

Authorities removed cases of alcohol and other items from Howard’s Party Store, which is located at 1366 Portage Street, and loaded them into a U-Haul truck.

Howard's Party Store (Aug. 27, 2014)The owner of the store, Karnail Singh, lost his liquor license in mid-July after the state’s ruling in the case. The state also ordered all alcohol to be seized from his store.

Singh can appeal the ruling if he chooses.

Howard Party Store was closed for business Wednesday afternoon.

The state Liquor Control Commission says it will hold the seized alcohol until all appeals have been exhausted. At that point, the products would be destroyed.

In the last 12 months, four businesses in Michigan have had their alcohol seized after their license was revoked in an administrative hearing.
