GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) There’s a camp in West Michigan unlike any other in the country, where kids can just be kids, even if they struggle with stuttering. Camp Shout Out is a week-long camp in Holton that has almost 50 campers, professional speech pathologists, graduate students and volunteers all working together.
Not only do the kids get great therapy, support and fun camp activities, professionals also get hands on training from some of the best in the country. The campers get to interact with other campers just like them. For most of them, this is the best week ever, leaving them more confident and with tools and coping skills to become great communicators.
Camp Shout Out was this year’s Connecting with Community Award winner. As part of this honor, WOOD TV8 crews were out at the camp this week to produce a public service spot that will run on our station for the next year.
