KENT COUNTY, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kent County couple is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a young relative for years while babysitting.
Jerry Merle Eastman, 56, and Kathy Sue Eastman, 60, have each been charged with five counts of sexual assault, including first and second degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to court documents, the child told an employee with Child Protective Services that they had been molested beginning at a young age.
The Eastmans allegedly took turns sexually assaulting the child while the other watched at their home in Courtland Township, a Kent County Sheriff’s detective wrote in a probable cause affidavit.
Detectives were told by other relatives they were also molested by the couple back in the 1970s and 1980s.
The two are being held in jail on a $500,000 bond. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for September 5 in the 63rd District Court.
