Man surrenders after Kzoo Co. standoff


TEXAS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) –A suspect in a shooting who was involved in a standoff with police Wednesday morning in Kalamazoo County has surrendered and is in custody.

The situation began around 3:30 a.m. at a home near 4th Street and W. O Avenue in Texas Township when an argument broke out between the suspect, a woman he had previously been in a relationship with and another man.

The trio seemed to have a resolved the issue and went inside the home together when the suspect took out a gun and fired several shots at the man, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was hit in the leg and has non-life threatening injuries.

A SWAT team used tear gas in an effort to get the suspect to come out of the home.
