HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Ottawa County authorities say they arrested the man who robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint earlier this week.

The robbery happened Monday afternoon at Whispering Pine Apartments in Holland Township. A taxi driver who was called to the apartment complex on 136th Avenue near Quincy Street told the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office that a man got in his cab, showed a silver handgun and demanded cash. The robber then took off on foot.

Detectives canvassed the apartment complex and surrounding area and were able to develop a suspect.

The suspect, a 20-year-old from Indiana, was arrested Thursday, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities say they also recovered a handgun.

The sheriff’s office said the man had been staying at the apartment complex with his girlfriend.

The suspect will face charges of armed robbery and using a handgun in the commission of a felony, the sheriff’s office said.

His name was withheld pending arraignment, which is expected to happen Friday morning.
