ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan High School Athletic Association has implemented new practice rules for the 2014 football season.

The MHSAA is not allowing any more more than two collision practices a week. They previously allowed three to four full contact practices a week.

However, Zeeland West has been gearing their practices to follow the new rules before they were ever even implemented knowing it will help keep their students safe from injury.

Werley says they are also looking forward to other fall sports including water polo for boys and girls’ swimming and diving which involves students from both Zeeland West and Zeeland East.

Zeeland West will take the field against Detroit Country Day High School at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Look for highlights tonight on 24 Hour News 8 at 10 and 11.
