EASTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man has died after crashing his quad early Saturday morning.

The crash happened in a wooded area north of Sayles Road near Johnson Road northeast of Saranac around 12 a.m.

According to officers, the 36-year-old man from Saranac was driving his quad too fast over a steep hill when he went over the edge of a ravine and crashed. Witnesses said the quad hit a large fallen tree branch causing it to go over the edge of the ravine.

When rescue crews arrived, the man was not breathing. Their attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he died on scene.

No other passengers were on the ATV when the crash happened.

It remains under investigation.
