FLOWERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Thieves made off with money and checks after breaking into a golf course near Three Rivers, authorities say.

It happened sometime between 2 a.m. Monday and 6:55 a.m. Tuesday at Pine View Golf Course on Pulver Road, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said burglars cut the phone lines to the building, used a drill on the back door lock and then pried the door open.

The thieves then pried open locked file cabinets and stole a “large quantity of cash” and several personal checks made out to the golf course, the sheriff’s department says.

The sheriff’s office advises anyone who wrote a check to the golf course between Friday and Monday should call the golf course at 269.279.5131. They should also alert their bank in case someone tries to cash a stolen check. If the checks are cashed, affected golf course patrons should call the sheriff’s office at 269.467.4045 about case No. 4539-14.
