Raise a glass to Hops for Hope

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) September marks the start of Hops for Hope, a program that encourages participants to raise a glass and help raise funds to fight cancer and Parkinson’s disease through the Van Andel Institute Purple Community.

Justin Ewald of Purple Community and Jenn White of White Flame Brewery and Van Andel Institute are among those behind the fundraising idea. For the month of September, participating breweries will have a “purple” beer on tap. When you buy a pint, $1 will be donated to VAI for cancer or Parkinson’s research. For each growler sold, breweries will donate $5. White Flame Brewery will donate $2 for every fill of the growler.

Purple Community is a grassroots fundraising program through VAI. All of the money raised from Hops for Hope stays in the West Michigan community.
