BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Battle Creek police say they interrupted a break-in and arrested two people who tried to steal about 20 guns from a business.

The break-in happened in the 100 block of S. Kendall Street, in the area of Parkway Drive and Hubbard Street. Officers were called to the business when an alarm went off, according to the Battle Creek Police Department. There, they found a theft in progress.

The would-be thieves took off on foot, dropping a bag that had between 15 and 20 firearms in it.

Officers soon found and arrested two men, including one who tried to hide on a roof, BCPD said.

Both suspects face “numerous” felony charges, BCPD says, and are being held at the Calhoun County Jail.

Anyone with information about the attempted theft is asked to call BCPD at 269.966.3322 and ask for Detective Reinstein, or to contact Silent Observer at 269.781.9700.
