GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) It’s estimated that more than one thousand people in Kent County are living with HIV, and many of them may not even know it. On Saturday, September 13, a big community event is taking place to help raise awareness of the resources available to help in West Michigan. The 22nd annual 5K AIDS Walk and Fun Run will take place at Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids.
The AIDS Walk is organized by the Red Project, which is focused on HIV prevention, improving health, and reducing risk. It also works with overdose prevention and offers free HIV and Hepatitis C testing.
The 5K AIDS Walk and Fun Run starts at 10 a.m. on September 13 with yoga. The run/walk is at 11 a.m. Registration is $25. Free registration is available if you cannot afford a donation. You can register online. All proceeds from the event go toward HIV prevention services in West Michigan.
The night before the event, come out for a dinner party at Mangiamo! You can get a pasta dinner, lawn party, games, and cash bar for $15.
