Suspect breaks into home, stabs person inside

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A suspect in a Kent County stabbing has been arrested after breaking into a home and assaulting a person with a knife.

Authorities were called to the home in the 5000 block of Vernor Avenue NE around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a stabbing.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The suspect was an acquaintance of the homeowner who was also home at the time, but she was not hurt.

Grand Rapids police located the suspect who was then turned over to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.

The case is expected to be reviewed by the prosecutor’s office on Thursday morning. The name of the suspect is not being released pending arraignment.
