GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – ArtPrize 2014 is just two weeks away, and ArtPrize officials are changing things up for this year’s grand finale.

The 2014 ArtPrize Awards ceremony will be held at the Grand Rapids Civic Theater on Oct. 10 at 7:45 p.m. While only a scarce number of tickets are available to the public this year, WOOD TV8 and ArtPrize are throwing a big watch party starting at 7 p.m. at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids where the ceremony will be broadcast live on a Jumbotron.

Prior to that, ArtPrize and WOOD TV8 will host a street party at 5 p.m. at Rosa Parks Circle with performances by Troll for Trout and Domestic Problems. Local food trucks, as well as Founders Brewing Co., will be on hand.

The awards ceremony will also be broadcast live on WOOD TV8 and livestreamed on woodtv.com.

Following the announcement of the winners, a celebration will be held at Rosa Parks Circle after the Civic Theater attendees make their way down Monroe Center, accompanied by a special musical performance. Then, the ArtPrize 2014 winners will be introduced to the public and the party will continue until 11 p.m.

The awards ceremony isn’t the only part of ArtPrize 2014 that is getting a makeover; ArtPrize officials announced in March that the prize structure is also changing.

The 1,536 artists who entered this year had to register in one of four categories: 2D, 3D, time based or installation.

And instead of an ArtPrize Top 10, both the public and a panel of jurors will select a winner in each category who will win $20,000. Both the public and the jury will also select an overall winner who will win $200,000.

ArtPrize 2014 runs through Oct. 10.
