GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Life is full of surprises — mostly good but some bad, like unexpected illness or getting a life-changing disease. Being prepared always helps. Our expert in estate planning, David Carrier, has some great advice.

Some of the questions David Carrier can answer involve real estate issues and power of attorney. Some actual emails he has received:

  • “If my house is under trust in revocable living trust, can guardianship of the estate sell house?”
  • “What (should I) do if elderly parent refuses to take action, pay bills, or appoint a power of attorney?”

David Carrier offers Free LifePlan Workshops where you can get your questions answered. The next ones are Friday, September 12 at 2 p.m. and Friday, September 18 at 2 p.m. Some of the topics expected to be covered include elder law help, how to avoid nursing home poverty, and planning for the next generation. David Carrier’s law office is located at 5242 Plainfield NE in Grand Rapids. Call (616) 361-8400 or visit his website for more information.

You can join David Carrier at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 13 at Millennium Park in Grand Rapids. Join his team, Carrier’s Calvary! Registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk starts at 10:15 a.m.
