Kalamazoo coach collapses at school, dies

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A football coach collapsed at a Kalamazoo school and later died Wednesday, district officials say.

Coach Darryl Bradford collapsed mid-day Wednesday at Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts, according to a district spokesman. The school was locked down for a time after the medical emergency.

Bradford did not survive.

District officials say grief counselors would be at the school Thursday.

According to Bradford’s obituary, visitation is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19 at the Harper Funeral Homes on Douglas Avenue in Kalamazoo. Bradford’s funeral is set for noon Sept. 20 at the Galilee Baptist Church.
