Boy riding bike critically hurt after hit by car

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A 9-year-old boy has been hospitalized with critical injuries after colliding with a car while riding a bicycle.

Police say the boy was heading east on Wren Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a car traveling northbound on Maple Grove Avenue in Battle Creek.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the 9-year-old injured in the roadway. He was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.

Speed or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash.
