HOLLAND, Mich., (WOOD) – A Holland man is being charged as a sexual delinquent after being arrested for allegedly exposing himself to a 13-year-old girl.
Anthony Currier, 29, was arraigned Friday in 58th District Court on one misdemeanor count of indecent exposure.
Prosecutors added the felony charge of being a sexually delinquent person due to Currier’s lengthy criminal sexual history and also, in part, because he’s suspected in another indecent exposure incident involving an 11-year-old girl.
That incident occurred Tuesday at Black River Public School in Holland.
“And that’s the reason we opted to make an arrest before we know everything he was involved in,” said Holland Police Department Capt. Jack Dykstra, who said additional indecent exposure reports had been made since police released information to the media.
“Our concern is that he has committed this many offenses and we believe them all to be connected, or at least he is connected to most of them, and we don’t want him to continue to offend,” Dykstra continued. “There are already too many victims.”
Currier is a registered sex offender who was living at the Holland Rescue Mission at the time of his arrest.
The organization told 24 Hour News 8 they allow sex offenders to stay there and that Currier, as well as and all men staying the mission, are always separated from women and children.
The mission’s executive director said it was mission employees who contacted police about Currier, which police confirmed.
A judge set Currier’s bond at $200,000. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.
As of Friday evening, no charges had been filed in the incident involving the 11-year-old girl.
