United Way ‘Day of Caring’ & campaign kickoff

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Heart of West Michigan United Way will kick off their new campaign and Day of Caring on Friday.

More than 1,300 volunteers are participating in service events starting at 9 a.m.

A Day of Caring is when people take a day off from work to do community service in West Michigan. Projects vary from tutoring to cleaning up parks to serving meals.

United Way West Michigan will also make an announcement about their 2014 campaign at 12:15 p.m. at Heartside Park in Grand Rapids.
