World’s tallest dog from Otsego dies

OTSEGO, Mich. (WOOD) — Zeus, the Great Dane from West Michigan who held the world record for tallest dog, has died.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reported the 165-pound dog from Otsego died at the age of five last week.

Zeus holds the Guinness World Recorld for world’s largest dog. He stood 44 inches at the shoulder and 7-feet, 4-inches on his hind legs.

Zeus was a single inch taller than the previous record-holder, Giant George.

At age 3, his owner Denise Doorlag said zeus ate around 12 cups of food a day which is equivalent to one 30 pound bag of food.
