Grand Rapids Art Museum announces new chief curator

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – After an extensive search, the Grand Rapids Art Museum announces who will be its new chief curator.

Ron Platt was named the new chief curator of the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

After a national search, the art museum selected Platt who was previously the curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art for seven years.

He also severed as the curator of exhibitions for the Weatherspoon Art Museum at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and curator of exhibitions for the Southeastern Center of Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Platt received a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from University of Maryland and a Master of Business Administration in Arts Administration from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
