Motorcyclist injured during rear-end accident

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) – A motorcyclist, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, is recovering after rear ending a vehicle Wednesday.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection Westnedge Avenue and Academy Street, according to a Kalamazoo Public Safety news release.

The motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Westnedge Avenue when the driver rear ended a mid-size sedan, the release said.

Police found the motorcyclist at fault and was cited for driving without due care and operating a motorcycle without a cycle endorsement.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver was taken to the hospital and is stable condition.
