Woman hurt when motorcycle flips

BIG RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman was hurt Wednesday afternoon when her motorcycle crashed on the highway west of Big Rapids.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. on northbound US-131 at 17 Mile Road in Big Rapids Township, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the front end of the woman’s motorcycle began to shake and she lost control. The bike went into the median and then flipped end over end multiple times.

The woman was thrown from the bike.

The motorcyclist, ag 27-year-old from Grand Rapids, was hospitalized at Spectrum Health Big Rapids with non-life-threatening injuries.

She was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
