Celebrate Pit Bull Awareness Month

Bonita at Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary

LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (WOOD) Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary is celebrating October as Pit Bull Awareness Month! One of the pit bulls looking for her forever home is Bonita.

Bonita would be happy living in a home with a big fenced-in yard and plenty of room to run around. She’s super strong and can pretty easily jump shorter chain link fences, so a space with a taller privacy fence would work best for her. She gets along with other dogs at Mackenzie’s, and would make a great companion for a runner or active family.

Sometimes Bonita doesn’t realize here her own strength, so it’s best to keep an eye on her around little kids because she could accidentally knock them down. Bonita learns commands very quickly because she’s so smart!

To meet Bonita or any of the adoptable dogs at Mackenzie’s, just give them a call to set up an appointment to visit. Their thorough adoption process includes a visit to your home within 150 miles of Lake Odessa.

Another great opportunity to meet Bonita and her canine companions is coming up on Monday, October 13, at the annual “Pucks and Pups” event at Mackenzie’s. Join the dog walking fun on their fabulous property along with the Grand Rapids Griffins. The event starts at 5 p.m.
