GVSU police investigating armed robbery report

ALLENDALE, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Valley State University police are urging students to exercise caution following a report of an armed robbery.

Police received a report that a man — possibly armed with a knife — demanded money from a student near the Performing Arts Center on the Allendale Campus around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Students at Grand Valley State University received an email about the incident around 1 a.m. Thursday. It’s unclear when the incident was reported to police.

No one was hurt. It’s unknown if the suspect was able to get away with any cash.

Authorities are asking students to walk in well-lit areas, walk in pairs, or call GVSU Campus Police for a safewalk at 616.331.3255. Anyone who feels threatened, should call 911.
