Police investigating attempted armed robbery

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) – Police are searching for a suspect who tried to rob a Verizon store at gunpoint Wednesday evening.

The attempted armed robbery happened just before 8 p.m. at the Verizon store located at 1013 South Washington Avenue in Holland.

Police say the suspect entered the store with a silver long barreled revolver style handgun demanding merchandise.

During the hold up, an employee was able to get out the backdoor to call police. The suspect ran out the front door and headed northbound.

A K-9 unit tried to track the suspect, but was unable to locate the suspect.

Investigators describe the suspect as a black man who is in his teens to early 20s. He was seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with drawstrings pulled around his face, blue jeans, white shoes and a black and white backpack.
