Man shot in thigh in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is recovering after being shot in the thigh Friday evening.

The shooting happened at around 7 p.m., according to officials.

The 51-year-old victim told police he was directed to drive to 42nd Street and Kalamazoo Avenue SE by a female passenger. When he got there, he said a man tried to rob him. When he refused to give him money, he was shot in the thigh.

Officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department told 24 Hour News 8 that the man showed up at a hospital with a bullet wound.

Police did not find any evidence of a shooting at the scene.
