GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Plans for a new retail center in Northeast Kent County may happen after all.
A Detroit-area developer has plans to turn the Village at Knapp’s Crossing, located at Knapp Street and East Beltline Avenue, into a retail center with high-end stores and restaurants.
Lormax Stern Development Co. is the same company that redeveloped CenterPointe Mall at 28th Street and East Beltline Avenue.
The company says the Knapp’s Corner development would be about half the size of the CenterPointe development.
It would include a large retail store, a number of smaller stores and a combination of full-service and fast food restaurants.
Lormax says it’s interviewing potential retailers, but hasn’t made decisions yet.
The site – which already houses a D&W Fresh Market and PF Chang’s – was going to become a lifestyle center with a mix of housing and retail –but that project went bankrupt.
