Experience a new Nutcracker

Grand Rapids Ballet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) You may think that you have already seen the holiday classic “The Nutcracker,” but this year it’s all re-imagined! The Grand Rapids Ballet and Hospice of Michigan are collaborating on a very special production in December that brings together the talents of author and East Grand Rapids native Chris Van Allsburg and Tony Award winning set designer Eugene Lee, along with choreographer Val Caniparoli and Artistic Director Patricia Barker.

The new Nutcracker is the largest project the Grand Rapids Ballet has ever put on stage. Everything from the storyline to the set design will be presented in a new light for a new generation.

The new Nutcracker will premiere with a red carpet gala event presented by Art Van. It’s Thursday, December 11 at DeVos Performance Hall. The black tie event will benefit Hospice of Michigan. A $150 ticket gets you the performance and a reception. For $250, you’re invited to cocktails, dinner, the performance, and an afterglow reception.

The Nutcracker is December 12 through 14 and 19 through 21. For ticket information visit the Grand Rapids Ballet or Ticketmaster websites.
