GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) November marks Veterans Day, a day to honor the heroes who served in the United States military. MapleCreek is participating by holding events to celebrate veterans.
MapleCreek is home to many veterans, including John Slagter, who served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Slagter recently went to Washington D.C. with the Honor Flight program. His children arranged the trip as a surprise so he could visit the World War II memorial.
MapleCreek is holding Veterans Day programs at each of their buildings on November 11. At 10 a.m., theywill have a pinning and recognition ceremony at The Terraces. After that is a ballroom dancing demonstration in the Creekside Cafe at The Terraces at 2 p.m. and The Lodge at 3 p.m. The public is invited, but please call them at (616) 452-5900 and let them know you are coming.
