EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say no charges are planned following the August alcohol-related death of a Michigan State University freshman from China.
East Lansing police say 19-year-old Jiayi Dai of Beijing was found unresponsive in an off-campus apartment on Aug. 23. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement Thursday, police said Dai had a blood-alcohol level of 0.415 percent. She died of accidental acute alcohol intoxication. The legal limit for driving in Michigan is 0.08 percent.
Dai had recently arrived on campus for international student orientation before starting her freshman year.
