Tracks in snow lead police to theft suspects

IONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Police were able to track down two suspects who stole several items from cars by following their footprints left in the snow.

Michigan State Police were called to Hill Street in Ionia Township around 9 p.m. Wednesday on a report of items stolen from a car.

Troopers found the footprints in the snow which went through several apartment complex parking lots, leading  to an apartment on Prospect Street in Ionia.

Police spoke with one juvenile and one adult inside the apartment who had wet shoes on that matched the impressions left in the snow.

Both suspects confessed to the larceny and police found several stolen items, including a wallet.

The adult suspect was held at the Ionia County Jail and the juvenile was turned over to his parents, according to police.
