Freezing rain expected this weekend

Weekend forecast for rainfall in Grand Rapids.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Freezing Rain Advisory has been issued for most of West Michigan for Saturday morning. It will be in effect from 4 a.m. till 9 a.m. for a thin glaze of ice.

Warmer air will push into the Great Lakes Friday night. As that transition is made there will be a chance of sleet and freezing rain late Friday night and through Saturday morning.

It does not appear to be heavy. Most models indicate the potential of just a few hundredths of an inch. Temperatures should be warm enough by Saturday afternoon making a transition into light rain and drizzle. Fog may also be a problem through the weekend as warm, moist air flows over the deep, packed snow.

Heavy rain will be possible late Sunday through Sunday night with the potential of an inch or more.
